Local Area Network Connection Configuration
Q17. Will I need to configure my firewall(s)?
A. Possibly. You will need to ensure that the e-Connected System on your network can communicate with our VPN router (148.177.0.108) on port 500 and port 4500 for inbound and outbound traffic utilizing protocol 50 . These are standard ports used for VPN ISAKMP/IKE IPSec traffic. If you have multiple firewalls, this configuration must be done for each firewall involved in the route.
It is extremely important that these ports are open for a timely and successful install of e-Connectivity® to your System.
Q18. Will I need to configure my router(s)?
A. Possibly. If you have a router providing Network Address Translation (NAT), you will need to ensure that it supports NAT Traversal (NAT-T). NAT-T is used by the IPSEC protocol to allow for the traversal of encrypted packets across NATed environments. If you have multiple routers, you must do this for each router involved in the route. If you are using Cisco equipment, it is important that Portfast is disabled.
DSL/Cable Configuration
Q19. How can DSL/Cable be installed in my laboratory?
A. You will need a local service provider (typically the telephone company or cable company) to install the DSL/cable line into your laboratory. The provider should supply the equipment necessary to connect the Systems to the Internet. Please note that the equipment must support an Ethernet connection (i.e. not USB only).
Q20. Will I need to ensure that the DSL/Cable line is functioning?
A. You should communicate with the service provider regarding how best to determine that the DSL/Cable line is functioning correctly. Several providers will perform all of the necessary work. Other providers will deliver the equipment and you will be required to make the connections and configure the equipment. If the service provider does the latter, then follow their instructions to install, configure and test it before Ortho Clinical Diagnostics connects the System.
Q21. How do you configure the connection if it requires a login to the Internet Service Provider?
A. The Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Service Engineer can enter the appropriate information into the e-Connected System VPN Device. Some hardware (DSL and Cable modems) can support the configuration of this information. If this is the case, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics would prefer that the information is stored in the hardware supporting the connection.
